The Library

The Library is Hawk's open knowledge repository. No membership required. Everything here meets one standard: it must be worth your time to read.

Three streams sit below. Intelligence tracks what is moving markets, from short-term catalysts to structural trends. Perspective carries considered, named positions from the Hawk community, each accountable to its author. Research is the academic layer: fully scoped papers on systematic method, quantitative analysis and market microstructure.

No volume for its own sake. If it is published here, it passed the standard.

Intelligence

What is moving markets. Right now and over time.

Intelligence covers the macro and instrument level developments that matter to systematic CFD and options traders. Short term catalysts and longer term structural trends, filtered for relevance and presented without noise.

For a directional trader the question is where price moves and why. For an options trader a second question runs in parallel: what the same event does to volatility. A scheduled release reshapes the volatility surface before it even prints - implied volatility builds into the event, the term structure steepens at the front, and skew shifts as the market reprices the tails. When the number lands, the volatility crush that follows can matter more than the direction of the move. Intelligence reads both: the price catalyst and its effect on the vol surface.

This is why the economic calendar anchors the stream. High impact scheduled events - the 'red book' releases: central bank decisions, inflation, employment, growth - are known in advance, which is what lets you study their effect on volatility rather than only react to it. Unscheduled shocks get the same treatment after the fact: what moved, through what mechanism, and what it did to pricing across the curve.
